INNOVATIVE LAW USERS GROUP
Electronic Discussion List Instructions

The Innovative Law Users Group discussion list was established in May 1999 to facilitate communication between ILUG members. The inspiration for starting the list came during a meeting the ILUG Enhancements Committee held in Anaheim. The Committee decided that there was a need to educate law librarians about enhancement of the Innovative system. Our thanks go to Brian Quigley, University of Texas, for suggesting the idea and for hosting the list.

Instructions for joining and maintaining your subscription are included later in this message. If you wish to unsubscribe, the directions for doing so are found there as well.

The discussion list will be used to share information about ILUG meetings and other Group activities. In general, messages from the Chair will be sent to this list, and no longer posted on the INNOPAC or LAW-LIB lists. Please feel free to use this list for questions you have or topics you would like law librarians with Innovative systems to discuss. The list is not intended to replace INNOPAC as the primary source for answers from Innovative users. Instead, it will focus on questions and issues specific to law librarians and the ILUG.

HOW TO SUBSCRIBE TO THE LIST

Send a message to listproc@lists.cc.utexas.edu with no subject line and the following text:
subscribe ilug [your e-mail address] [your first and last names]

HOW TO POST TO THE LIST

This is an open subscription list. Only members of the list may send email to it.

The address for posting is: ilug@lists.cc.utexas.edu

HOW TO GET OFF THE LIST

To sign off from the list, email to: listproc@lists.cc.utexas.edu
with the following request: signoff ILUG or unsubscribe ILUG.

GETTING YOUR SUBSCRIPTION ATTRIBUTES

You may get your current subscription attributes at any time by sending the following request to: listproc@mcfeeley.cc.utexas.edu:

query ILUG

WHERE TO SEND EMAIL

If you want to post messages to list ILUG, you should direct your email to: ilug@lists.cc.utexas.edu, NOT listproc@lists.cc.utexas.edu.

If you wish to send requests please do not send them to the list -- they will not be processed. Instead direct them to listproc@lists.cc.utexas.edu.

Requests sent to the server should be placed in the body of the email message, not the Subject:. ListProc ignores requests in the Subject: field.

You can, however, put as many requests as you like in one mail message; each request should be on a line by itself. If your request is too long for your mailer to handle, you can break it in multiple lines, but each line should end with the character & (ampersand). For example, here are two separate requests:

set ILUG &
mail &
ack
help

The ampersands in the above example are immediately followed by carriage returns. The above requests are equivalent to:

set ILUG mail ack
help

LIST OWNERS

The list's owner is Brian Quigley (bquigley@mail.law.utexas.edu). You should contact him if there are any problems.

ACCESS TO THE LIST'S ARCHIVES

The list is archived regularly and many, if not all, previous postings are available from this server. All past mail messages are collected into (daily, monthly, etc) logs; to get a list of the available logs for this list you may send the following request to listproc@lists.cc.utexas.edu:

index ILUG

Each line will show you the log file's name, its size, and a brief comment. You can then get any logs with the GET request. For example, if you wish to get log9611 you may send the following request to listproc@lists.cc.utexas.edu:

get ILUG log9611

Here we assume log9611 is the name of the log. Log names may not necessarily be uniform.

HOW TO GET MORE HELP

To get more information on how to use this service, please send the following request to listproc@lists.cc.utexas.edu:

HELP

There are far more options, settings, and niceties about ListProcessor(tm) and we encourage you to explore all of them; HELP should be your starting point.
