This is the third mailing of the year and contains information about our upcoming meeting in Baltimore plus our slate of candidates for the next election.
I also wanted to share with you some information on the recent Innovative User Group meeting last month in Oakland, which attracted over 700 participants from a wide variety of libraries, backgrounds and nationalities. The program selections covered a wide range of topics and there were ample opportunities for informal networking with colleagues.
Our group met together for lunch during the meeting and had a turnout of 70 people, which is some indication of how important the law library sector is to the III library community. The lunch provided an informal forum for law users to meet and exchange information while still allowing for everyone to attend as many educational programs as possible. Next year's IUG meeting is in Nashville (May 1998) and we hope to have many ILUG members in attendance.
CANDIDATES FOR OFFICE
Enclosed you will find the biographical information on the candidates for Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect and Treasurer for our organization. Please take some time to read over the information and return the ballot by the posted deadline of JUNE 1. Election results will be announced at the ILUG business meeting in Baltimore.
SYSTEM MANAGER LUNCHEON
As we did last year, we are hosting a lunch for the System Managers from each member library who will be attending AALL in Baltimore. The System Manger is defined as the primary contact person in each library who is responsible for the day-to-day system administration and management for the III system. Due to space limitations, only one person per library is eligible to attend and advance registration is required. Please complete the reservation form enclosed with this packet and return it by the posted deadline of JUNE 1. Cost for the luncheon is $10.00 per person; checks should be made payable to ILUG.
WORKSHOP
Our primary educational forum will be the ILUG workshop on Saturday, July 19 in the Baltimore Convention Center. It will be a mixture of small group discussions with your colleagues, our annual business meeting, as well as presentations and training by III staff. A tentative agenda is included in this mailing for your information and planning purposes. At this point, the topics to be covered include electronic ordering & claiming, WebPac, INNOPAC CD-ROM Manual, Release 11, Project Millennium and Customer Service.
To help us anticipate the number of people who will be attending, please indicate on the form the number of people from your library who are interested in attending the workshop. There is not a restriction on the number of people from each library who may attend the workshop (although our overall workshop attendance is limited to 100 people).
