Statement
As Head of Technical Services, I am daily confronted with the complexities and benefits of III systems and services for law libraries. When Saint Louis University installed III three years ago, we did so in a shared environment in which we are one of 10 cataloging centers sharing a DEC Alpha. The first IUG meeting I attended was a welcomed experience in that I was rewarded with a wealth of information provided by colleagues from across the country who had already resolved many of the thorny problems we were confronting. Our system is now acting as the lead site in bringing online the state-wide INN-Reach system which includes all four of the academic law libraries in the state. My goal, as vice-chair of the ILUG is to ensure the law library community's longstanding position in III's user base by fostering topics which address our programmatic needs.

My experiences with Innovative Interfaces, Inc began with the conversion of manual acquisitions and serials control to INNOVACQ in 1988, migration to a UNIX machine in 1992, and another migration to a DEC Alpha in 1998. The ILUG has been a tremendous support system both through its listserv and its meetings. It is easy to soak up ideas and information at these annual meetings as well as to share experiences, laughs and frustrations with colleagues who provide valuable insights. I would welcome the opportunity to assist this organization which has contributed so greatly to my ability to perform my system responsibilities.

I believe in the importance of the group and am confident that its role in our professional lives will continue to grow as technology advances at a rapid rate. I have enjoyed attending the ILUG sessions at the AALL Annual Meeting and found participation in the ILUG very useful. Having served as the Treasurer for the Virginia Association of Law Libraries, a chapter of AALL, I believe that I understand what is needed to effectively perform the duties of Treasurer and I welcome an opportunity become more involved with the ILUG.
