Statement:

As Acquisitions/Collection Development/Serials Librarian, I have developed a great respect for the functionality and utility of the III system. Having attended a great many Law Library, and other, conferences, I was very pleasantly surprised when I attended my first IUG meeting and found it to be directly relevant to the work that I do as well as to the work of those that I supervise. The ILUG lunches have been especially useful in providing an opportunity for those of us doing similar work to talk about how we do what we do and what we might consider doing differently. I welcome the opportunity to assist the ILUG in continuing to be an organization that contributes so greatly to our ability to do our jobs, and to do them well.

Candidate for Vice Chair/Chair Elect:
Mary Strouse

Education: M.S.L.I.S., Univ. of Ill.; B.A. Univ. of Wash.

Employment:

Statement:

Innovative's customer base is expanding. Law libraries must replace the clout once accorded by their numbers with a different sort of influence, based on clear priorities, consensus and engagement . At the same time, we must not overwhelm members with competing demands from multiple organizations. Meeting in conjunction with IUG and AALL allows ILUG to tailor sessions to our needs, while keeping costs and travel down. Similarly, we should seek a greater voice in product development, short of duplicating the entire infrastructure of the IUG enhancements process. For example, ILUG might request a formal commitment to include law libraries in all major beta tests. Only one law library was initially included in the Millennium Serials beta process, and then only at that library's request. Above all, I would like to promote an atmosphere of civility and cooperation with III. To pursue our legitimate concerns effectively, we must appreciate the company's goals and its competitive environment.

Candidate for Treasurer:
Kristine (Kit) Kreilick

Education: M.L.L., University of Washington ; J.D., Valparaiso University; B.A., Valparaiso University

Employment:

Professional Activities:
Currently chair of the CALI/AAL-SIS Committee on Web-based Research Instruction. Coordinated and spoke at a program on" Information Economics: Choosing Sources and Formats" at the AALL Annual meeting in Anaheim, CA. in 1998. Was Secretary of LLAGNY 1993-95, and have participated in several LLAGNY "Bridge the Gap" programs.

Statement:

Fordham was one of the early implementers of the Innovative INNOVACQ system; it was here when I arrived in 1986. So I very much feel like I've experienced all of III's growing pains! We moved to INNOPAC in the early ‘90s and starting implementing Millennium last year, although it has been a slower process than we first anticipated, sometimes due to local problems beyond our control and sometimes due to Innovative problems. We are not on the "cutting edge" of Innovative implementation by any means, but I like to think we are pretty typical of academic law library Innovative customers. I find the IUG and ILUG meetings and the Innopac listserv to be indispensable to making the best use of Innovative products that we can, and am happy to foster that activity.

Candidate for Treasurer:
Barbara Plante

Education: B.A., American International College, Springfield, MA ; M.L.S. course work, C.W. Post College, Long Island University, N. Y.

Employment:

Professional Activities:
Organized the New England Innovative Law Users Group (NEILUG) annual meeting 1994 (with Anne Myers and Christine Archambault) Program chair and presenter at the 6th Annual NEILUG meeting, 1999 Speaker at the ILUG Annual meeting, 1999

Statement:

I would welcome the opportunity to serve as ILUG treasurer. As a member for many years, I value the support from this group and would like to see it continue to prosper. Experienced with developing and managing budgets, I would handle my duties as treasurer in a fiscally responsible manner.
