Sitting at the reference desk and helping law students' learn how to Shepardize while at the same time attempting to decode the wwwoptions file appear at first glance to be vastly diverse occupations. Enter here: the ILUG. This organization is the link that connects the special needs of law libraries with the flexibility of the Innovative System. The ILUG is in a unique position to address the systems issues that are specific to law libraries and to educate law library staff about these special features. Education is the key to getting the most out of our systems. We have the opportunity for education at the ILUG program directly prior to the AALL Annual Meeting as well as opportunities through the listserv and through connecting with others at the law librarians' luncheon at the IUG. If selected by the membership, my goal will be to take advantage of these opportunities and provide the membership with the best possible programs that can assist law libraries in attaining the best possible service for their patrons through the III system.

Statement:
INNOPAC is the third automated system that I have been involved with. In another professional lifetime, I served as president of a users group (Data Phase Users Group), which dealt with serious functional and response time concerns. Attending the IUG meeting in Houston this year, I was struck once again by the difference in both the environment and tone from my first experience as a library systems user. At both the IUG and ILUG meetings, it is the library users who drive the meetings. The meeting sessions are practical and relevant. I have learned a lot at these meetings, and have met people that I can call or e-mail for advice. Law librarians have been very helpful to me in answering my questions and in offering ideas on how best to use the system. I am pleased to have been asked to run for vice-chair/chair elect, and I would welcome the opportunity to give something back by serving the members of ILUG.
