Statement:

Working in a law library which began its relationship with Innovative as a Millennium library, I have been extremely impressed with the product and the company's commitment to its users. I was a member of our implementation team and was responsible for our database migration, OPAC setup and worked with the Circulation and Acquisitions/Serials departments to help set up their modules. I believe in the Innovative system and the Users Groups. I have learned so much from attending IUG meetings. I would like to be more involved with the ILUG to give back some of what I've gained from attending IUG meetings and being able to meet other III law library users. In addition, I would like to be able make III and IUG aware of some of the unique needs and ideas law libraries for using the III system. It would be an honor and privilege to be your Vice-Chair/Chair Elect and work with you as one of your representatives to III and the IUG.

Candidate for Vice Chair/Chair Elect:
Katrina Piechnik

I have admired my colleagues for their dedication and hard work in improving III's system functionality and communicating our law users' needs to Innovative Interfaces Inc. through the years. While working on IUG Steering Committee as an IUG Director at Large, 2002-2004 I was exposed to the invigorating dynamics of this group. Their enthusiasm was contagious and I would like to pass some of it to you (sorry I have to keep some of it for me).

As I am engaged in raising teenagers (Alexis and Chris) and maintaining an III system (JAC - also referred to as my baby) I see many similarities in both. For me the proverb "It takes a whole village to raise a child" also applies to ILUG. Yes, it takes all members' involvement to develop a great system.

I have served as an INNOPAC system administrator and coordinator at Jenkins Law Library since 1988 (while pregnant with my first child - Christopher). While my position and title has changed many times over those 16 years, I have remained loyal manager and coordinator of system and enjoy working with library personnel on improving workflow and getting more out of the system.

I would welcome the opportunity to serve as Vice Chair/Chair Elect of the ILUG Steering Committee as it continues to contribute improvements to this "top of the line" system. Our III system community allowed me to blossom professionally and made me visible not only within our group but among the entire library users' community worldwide. I hope that your involvement while working with me will do the same for you.

Why vote for Katrina you may wonder. Since all of us are very busy trying to do so much more with limited staff and resources I would like us to combine our ILUG efforts in working together with IUG on projects that could benefit all of us.

If elected I look forward to:

Statement:

I have enjoyed serving as this group's treasurer for the last 2 years. It's a real privilege to give back to a group whose members share their expertise so readily. Many of you were helpful to me when my library first migrated to III and the annual presentations give me great ideas we could use at my library. But in addition to that, I enjoy the work of being a treasurer-I do the same job for my church and the PTA at my son's elementary school. I am grateful for the trust all of these people place in me and pledge to take care of the ILUG's financial resources to the best of my ability.
